Next Steps in Dog Training Thursdays @7:45-8:30 pm

NYOC Dog Training

Continue building on skills learned in Puppy class and Basic Obedience 101 through the use of fun, motivational exercises and games.  This class is ideal for handlers who are interested in taking part in activities such as dog sports and therapy work, as well as continuing to connect and bond with their dog by learning new skills.

The course is structured around the needs of those in the class and therefore varies from session to session.  Some specific skills include:

  • teaching dogs to focus on their handlers, even with distractions
  • solid loose-leash walking and an introduction to precision heeling
  • teaching dogs to continue to work well in the absence of obvious food lures and continuous treats
  • special attention to working at each dog’s pace, to ensure everyone is happy and having fun!

This class is an ideal preparation for our Foundations for Dog Sports or Rally Novice classes.

* Prerequisite: First Steps in Dog Training or by permission from the instructor.  Please contact us at nyoc.training@gmail.com for further clarification.
