North York Obedience Club Privacy Policy

The North York Obedience Club (NYOC) is a non-profit organization and a member of the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC). We are committed to protecting your privacy. We ask you for your personal information to run our club and communicate with our members about club activities.
The activities of NYOC include: licensed CKC obedience and rally obedience trials, dog obedience classes for club members and members of the public, education nights, a demonstration team, a club newsletter and social events for members.
We do not sell, lease or rent your personal information to anyone.
Information We Collect About You
We may collect:
- Your name, email address, and telephone number,
- Additional information about you and your dog(s) that you submit through class registration and membership application forms, and
- Photographs of you and your dog(s) participating in club activities.
How We Collect Information
We collect information directly from you through forms you complete and submit on our website and by email.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Register you and your dog for NYOC classes, workshops and education nights;
- Process and manage NYOC memberships;
- Communicate with you about classes, events and club activities;
- Send you newsletters and other club announcements;
- Administer trials and other events; and
- Maintain club records
We will only use your information for the purposes stated in this policy or as otherwise required by law.
Sharing Your Information
NYOC may share your information with:
- volunteer instructors teaching NYOC classes,
- NYOC officials who need it to carry out their responsibilities, and
- the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), as required for dog trial or dog event administration.
NYOC Membership Directory
NYOC maintains and distributes a membership list containing members’ names, telephone numbers and email addresses. A copy of the membership list is sent to current NYOC members. Members can choose not to have their phone number(s) published in the membership list.
The membership list is provided to current NYOC members to allow members to communicate with each other about NYOC activities and events and to promote the collegial atmosphere of a CKC member dog club.
Members may have their personal information removed from the membership list that is circulated to the current members by contacting NYOC.
Photographs
We occasionally publish photographs of classes, events, members and their dogs on our website, on our Facebook and Instagram pages, and in club publications, such as our Newsletter.
If you wish to have a photograph of yourself or your dog removed from our website or publications, please contact us and we will make reasonable efforts to remove it promptly.
We do not publish photographs of children under 18 on our website without first obtaining the express written consent of their parent or legal guardian.
Payment Processing
NYOC does not collect or store your personal financial information. NYOC accepts payments for obedience classes and memberships by way of e-Transfer or through Stripe LLC. Payment card information submitted to Stripe LLC is processed securely by Stripe LLC and is not collected or stored by NYOC. Payments made by e-Transfer are processed through your financial institution, and NYOC does not collect or retain your banking information.
Cookies and Website Analytics
Our website is built on WordPress (a free content management system) and is hosted by WPCloud (a Canadian hosting provider). The website uses cookies to help it function properly and to improve your browsing experience. We use Google Analytics to better understand how visitors use our website. Google Analytics collects anonymous information such as pages visited, time spent on the site, and approximate geographic location. This information helps us improve our website and does not identify you personally. Our website also uses Google Maps to display location information. Google may collect information in accordance with its own privacy policies when you interact with these services.
Protecting Your Personal Information
We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, unauthorized disclosure, and/or misuse, in accordance with best practices and applicable law.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
NYOC may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page together with the revised effective date.
