NYOC Trials

Every year, NYOC hosts four licensed obedience trials for CKC recognized breeds and mixed breeds.

An obedience trial is an opportunity for dogs and their handlers to see how far they have progressed in their training.  Earning a  Title at any level is a tribute and an honour to both dog and owner.

Traditionally, the trials take place on a Saturday and Sunday in June. On the Friday before the trial, there is a correction match or practice trial in which dogs and handlers perform the obedience exercises required in a regular trial ring but without the pressure of formal competition.

In 2012, NYOC began to host rally obedience trials as well as obedience trials.  When timing, space and volunteer numbers permit, NYOC also offers the Canine Good Neighbour test at the trials.

NYOC is proud of its reputation for running friendly, well organized, and well staffed trials. This does not happen by accident!  It is the result of expertise, cooperation and planning by many people most of whom are volunteers.
