Over the years, I have had a Poodle, three Irish Setters and now I have Keanna, a Doberman Pinscher. I started with NYOC in 1980 taking classes with my Irish Setter puppy, Aine. I reintroduced myself to the club, taking classes in 1994 when, once again, I had an Irish Setter puppy, Elleene. My most recent reintroduction to the club occurred in September 2008 when I brought my current bundle of joy, Keanna, for training. After knowing about the club for almost thirty years, I did finally became a member in 2009! I love my dog because there is no reason not to, not only for all the obvious reasons that animal people LOVE their dogs but it is because of Keanna that I have had so much physical improvement after my stroke. I have reached a level that no one thought I would ever achieve. Keanna keeps me going, even when I don’t want to do anything. She makes me move and gives me one of the biggest reasons to not only carry on but to carry on with humour and a smile!
